BI Going Mainstream (Pt.II) - Oracle

Larry Ellison's team are known to focus more on the immediate impact an acquisition may have on the bottom line rather than technical strength. However, their recent acquisitions, if anything have proven that you can have your cake and eat it particularly with the Hyperion acquisition. Here's what they've done to date (in order of BI significance...not chronology):

o Hyperion (tier 1 vendor)
o Siebel (Siebel Analytics)
o Synopsis (tier 2 ETL vendor)
o SigmaDynamics (predictive analytics)
o Demantra (planning and predictive analytics for manufacturing).

The latest release of their stack (10.1.3.2) has incorporated the highly rated Siebel Analytics products, re-branded as Oracle BI Enterprise Edition. It includes the old nQuire interfaces, with the Siebel Analytics modules (pre-built extraction mappings for ERP + data warehouse + pre-built analytics) partly built on the old CRM Analytics Module they acquired from Informatica a few years ago. Taken as a whole, the Oracle BI EE suite is perhaps the most well-integrated and comprehensive BI suite on the market currently and the established BI players will find it tough to compete against.
